The State of Alaska, per 18 AAC 31.320-325,  requires food establishments that serve or prepare unwrapped / unpackaged foods to have at least one full-time Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) overseeing daily operations. Alaska provides a 45 day grace period for new establisments to hire or replace CFPM food managers.

Per the State of Alaska Division of Health Food Safety and Sanitation Program, "The State accepts certification earned through successful completion of any of the exams listed in the ANSI Conference for Food Protection Accreditation Directory".

Establishments in Anchorage that hold F002 or F003 permits also require CFPM per the Municipality of Anchorage (MOA). To become a certified food manager, individuals must pass a food protection manager certification exam from an ANAB approved provider such as FMC^® Food Managers Certification by EduClasses^®.
