  • Does Harris County Texas require Food Manager Certification and training?

Yes, Harris County, Texas, requires food establishments to have at least one certified food manager on staff. This requirement ensures that food safety protocols are strictly followed, helping to prevent foodborne illnesses and protect public health. Food managers must pass an accredited Food Manager Certification (FMC) exam to meet these requirements.

Training for this certification is highly recommended as it helps individuals understand essential food safety principles, including proper food handling, sanitation practices, and cross-contamination prevention. The certification must be obtained from an ANAB-CFP Accredited Certified Food Manager provider or Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) approved provider.

Completing both training and certification not only meets Harris County regulations but also enhances operational standards and boosts customer confidence. For detailed guidance, you can refer to local health department regulations or visit accredited course providers for options on training and certification.
