  • State Regulations

Learn about the various state regulations concerning Food Manager Certification.

What are Colorado's Food Safety Regulations?

The State of Colorado requires at least one employee with authority over food preparation and service must be a Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) per the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE) under 6 CCR 1010-2 (§ 2-102.12).

Certain types of establishments may by exempt by the CDPHE if there's a minimal risk of causing foodborne illness.

Colorado requires food managers to take and pass an ANAB-CFP accredited program to become a Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM). To become a certified food protection manager, individuals must pass a food protection manager certification exam from an ANAB approved provider such as FMC® Food Managers Certification by EduClasses®.

Always be sure to check with your local health department for any additional training and certification requirements.
