  • State Regulations

Learn about the various state regulations concerning Food Manager Certification.

What are Georgia's Food Safety Regulations?

The State of Georgia requires food service establishments that serve potentially hazardous foods to employee at least one person with supervisory responsibilities to be a Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) per the Georgia Department of Agriculture is required in 40-7-1-.03(3) of the Department's Retail Food Sales Regulations.

Certified Food Protection Managers must be designated to one food service establishment only and are responsible for designating someone else to be the person in charge when not on the premises.

To become a CFPM you must show proficiency of required information through passing a test that is part of an accredited program that conforms to the national standards for organizations that certify individuals such as the American National Standards Institute Conference for Food Protection (ANAB-CFP) approved provider FMC® Food Managers Certification by EduClasses®.

Always be sure to check with your local health department for any additional training and certification requirements.
